We find ourselves in Nagasaki in the middle of the 19th century, in the everyday life of US Navy lieutenant Pinkerton
and his soon-to-be wife Cio-Cio San, known as Butterfly. He rents a house for the two of them,
not out of love but out of convenience, which soon turns out not to be a good idea for poor Butterfly.
